The Hannah Bjorndal Photography team had the most perfect start to our wedding season on Saturday! I had the greatest honor of photographing this beautiful couple’s wedding day on Saturday and I am still feeling SO joyful and happy about it, even a few days later!

Minna was one of the first friends I made here in Washington, DC back in 2013. We were both brand new to the city and at the start of a year-long fellowship program that we participated in together. I remember talking with her over pizza and feeling a fast friendship and connection forming! Even though we haven’t ever really lived in the same place, we’ve remained friends. Minna is the type of person that can pick up right where we left off, even if it’s been months or a year since we last spent time together. Oh, also she’s a DOCTOR (amazing!) – the kind of doctor you hope to have (but rarely actually get!). Needless to say, I adore her!

When Minna first told me about JR, it was obvious to me that this was a very serious relationship. After what seemed like way too long, I got to meet him! Seeing the two of them together made me SO happy! They both seem to bring out the best in one another. I love the way their relationship has both a tender sweetness and a silly side. It made for an incredibly fun and meaningful wedding!

One of my favorite parts of the wedding day was a surprise JR planned for Minna during the reception. He wrote a song for her and performed it! SO sweet and romantic! Other favorite parts of the day included their beautiful, sunny ceremony, the view from the Princess Royale suite where Minna got ready, the absolutely phenomenal dinner at the Links at Lighthouse Sound, and the line-dancing during the reception! This was such a fun and meaningful celebration, and it was, again, the greatest honor to be their photographer!
