In our opinion, the best engagement session locations in Northern Virginia are also places that many couples would never think of! Yes, there are classic VA engagement session spots that we love, but if you’re looking for unique engagement photos in Virginia, you’re in the right place! Old Town Alexandria

One of the most requested locations we photograph VA engagement sessions is Old Town Alexandria. And it’s obvious why – Old Town engagement photos are so much fun! There are tons of great spots for photos in Old Town. Our favorites are the waterfront (at sunrise!) and a few of our special, super-secret alleyways and streets. Founders’ Park is also a winner! No permit necessary here, but we do strongly recommend that you schedule your Old Town engagement session for sunrise to avoid people in the background!

 

Morais Vineyard (or your favorite vineyard!)

Who doesn’t love a vineyard? We certainly love them! Morais, in particularly, is absolutely gorgeous. The unique building paired with the sprawling vineyard vines is, in our opinion, the perfect pairing. Have another vineyard that you love? We’d love to explore it with you! Most vineyards have some rules around where and when you can photograph (also also, some have a fee!) so just ask and we’ll help arrange everything!

 

Jones Point Park

Wow, who knew this was here? We absolutely love Jones Point Park as an alternative to the usual nature-y backdrop. The giant bridge allows us to create some unique shots, and there are also some classic green spaces that make for great photos!

 

Bon Air Rose Garden

Yes, this one is FOR SURE a hidden gem! Tucked away in Arlington, Bon Air Park’s rose garden is STUNNING at peak bloom! We recommend this location in the late spring and early summer for the gorgeous, flowery backdrop!

 

Your Wedding Venue (or any wedding venue!)

It’s almost too obvious, isn’t it? Most wedding venues allow their couples to come and photograph their engagement session on site, free of charge. And for some venues, this is a huge advantage to you! If you absolutely love the look of your venue, definitely take advantage of this perk! We’ll help scout out great spots in advance and also coordinate with the venue about when is best to come.

 

Navy-Merchant Memorial

Maybe one of our greatest hidden gems of all time is the Navy-Merchant Memorial. It’s about a mile from the airport and situated right along the Potomac River. We love this spot because it gets great sunlight, has a really cool architectural background and can also have a great view of the city depending on the time of year. We recommend this spot to our couples who don’t have a specific spot in mind and would like a simple, easy-to-get-to location! The light is guaranteed to be beautiful basically every time!

 

Meadowlark Botanical Gardens

Meadowlark Gardens is such a pretty engagement session location! Truthfully, our first time here was actually really recently! It’s sprawling and open, and it has a gorgeous water feature! Meadowlark does have a small photo fee of $25 and we’ll also have to pay for park entrance! Ask us for help arranging all of it!

Morven Park

It’s a little bit of a hike, but we love Morven Park in Leesburg for an engagement session! The stunning manor right on the property is absolutely lovely. Morven requires a permit for photographing on site (it’s $100 for two hours, that’s their only option!) but we think it’s well worth it! We’re happy to do the paperwork for you, too!
