It’s always a special event when someone who is always planning other people’s big days, finally gets to be the star of her own wedding! And that’s exactly what happened with Becky and Sam. Becky is a wedding planner and knows the in’s and out’s of the wedding industry. Since she had such a clear vision, she ended up planning the whole day herself! She even made her own invitations. The venue had just wrapped up on spring renovations and on the lawns sat 4 picturesque cottages, giving a modern farmhouse look. The day started with the bride and groom getting ready with their perspective parties in separate cabins. Becky wore a timeless, classic white dress. During the ceremony, the straps of her dress sat on her shoulder, but come the reception they were draped! What may seem like a simple, small  design detail ended up transforming her dress into what felt like a totally new look for the reception!

The reception took place by the water, which was also conveniently close to the cabins. And the venue even utilized a canoe to serve drinks at the reception. A fun touch!  There were a lot of unique touches throughout the day, incorporating family and loved ones. There was a table set up with past family wedding portraits, Becky carried her grandmother’s white beaded purse with her through the day, and Ave Maria was sung at the ceremony in honor of her grandmother, who could not be present. An emotional moment for all. They even printed personalized notes on handkerchiefs for the bride’s parents. The love and appreciation the couple have towards their parents is palpable and admirable. It was most apparent at dinner, for the bride and groom opted to sit with their parents rather than with their wedding party or at a head table.

On top of marriage, the couple is also gearing up for a big move! They decided they want to be closer to family, so we wish Becky and Sam the absolute best in this next chapter and send good thoughts as they make their way from Northern Virginia to Maryland!
