This celebratory, free-spirited wedding at Brookside Gardens was photographed by Hannah Elise with La Vie En Rose on Friday, October 20th, 2023 in Wheaton, MD. Hannah Elise is available for weddings in the DC area, SW Florida, and destination!
When Sam and Brad tied the knot, they didn’t let a little rain dampen their spirits. Their wedding day was a testament to love, resilience, and personal touches. It was my pleasure to be a part of their special day!
The day started in a unique and personal setting—Samantha got ready in her dad’s basement salon. It was a cozy and intimate space that added a special touch to the preparations. Her close friend, Kathleena, who was a bride I photographed last year, worked her magic as the makeup artist. Samantha and Kathleena share a deep history, having grown up together. It was heartwarming to see these friends come together to create the perfect bridal look.
The weather, however, had a different plan for the day. Rain showers came and went, but Samantha and Brad embraced it with enthusiasm. They didn’t let the rain deter them from enjoying their day. In fact, they had their first look outside, surrounded by vibrant trees with yellow leaves, holding umbrellas. As the rain gradually subsided, we explored the beautiful Brookside premises, capturing stunning moments at every turn. The greenhouse, in particular, was a lush and lively setting for more portraits. Even though the ceremony couldn’t be held outdoors, the wall-to-wall windows provided an incredible view of the outside.
The day held more surprises, as it was Brad’s dad’s birthday. The celebration didn’t stop with the wedding; they played the birthday song and shared a dance to commemorate the special occasion. Brad and his sister joined their dad on the dance floor, creating a heartwarming family moment.
Samantha’s father had a surprise of his own. He had a song in mind, one he dreamed of dancing to with Samantha since the day she was born. The emotions ran high as they danced together, making it a beautiful and unforgettable memory. To further highlight their personalities, Samantha and Brad had a HUGE vintage-style cake in a playful shade of pink. It was not only a sweet treat but also a unique addition that showcased their individuality.
Brad took the concept of wardrobe changes to a new level. He sported two distinct outfits during the day. For the first look, a classic bow tie added an air of sophistication. Later, at the reception, he switched things up, opting for a stylish pattern of snakes made from velvet. His bow tie transitioned into a purple bolo that perfectly matched the signature drink served to their guests. Brad’s outfit choices were a delightful way to display his fun and versatile personality.
Samantha and Brad’s wedding was a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. They embraced the unexpected, celebrated personal connections, and added unique touches to make their day truly special. It was a day to remember, a day that proved that love can conquer any challenge, even a little rain. Their wedding was a beautiful testament to the power of love and the magic that can happen when two people come together to create a day that is uniquely their own.
