There was not a cloud in the sky for Mary Kate and Jon’s beach engagement session! Is there anything better than a sunny spring morning? I finally met this fantastic couple this morning at Chesapeake Beach. When I pulled up to the shore, the sun was absolutely radiant and making the soft waves glow. I knew we picked a winner of a morning!

Ok, to be honest, it was pretty frigid. The added breeze when we got close to the water made my hands go numb almost immediately (why did I leave the gloves in the car?!), but you wouldn’t know that AT ALL looking at these gorgeous images. Jon and especially Mary Kate were incredibly brave to venture onto the breezy beach without coats! We had to take a few breaks in Jon’s car with heated seats. No one complained!

Mary Kate and Jon met on Match.com during busy seasons in both of their lives. Even through the busyness, the relationship flourished. Jon proposed last summer, using impressive stealth and sneakiness. On a trip to the beach, he purposely packed more casual clothes to throw Mary Kate off. He banked on her asking to go on a walk on the beach and it totally paid off – she asked to go on a beach walk, and was completely surprised when he got down on one knee. It’s obvious that Jon knows Mary Kate incredibly well to pull off such a sneaky surprise!

Let’s talk about the beach. The beach is AWESOME. It doesn’t really matter what time of year it is, I am always interested in going. This is especially true if I’m there to photograph a couple. The way the water and sand reflect light is enchanting and glowy and gorgeous. I can’t get enough of it and so I was so thrilled that this couple was willing to drive all the way from Wilmington to meet me here!
