Heyyyy, beautiful couple!

How is it December already?! Nicole & Taylor were basically made for a winter engagement session because they are so naturally snuggly and cozy! I honestly could not snap fast enough for all the sweetest that was happening during this session.

Taylor met Evan (my husband!) last year when they both were volunteering to help with a children’s program at our church in McLean, VA. Then, in the spring, we were all together at a picnic, and that’s when I met Nicole! After that, Nicole joined my community group and we’ve been friends ever since! I was honored and delighted when they asked me to photograph their wedding in St. Louis next June!

If you imagine the perfect December afternoon for engagement photos, I can pretty much guarantee that this Sunday was even more perfect than that. The sun was shining, there was still some fall colors on the trees, and it was just warm enough to not need a heavy coat. Roosevelt Island was busy!

One of the most important parts of an engagement session is getting to know the comfort level of a couple in front of the lens. For most, having your photos taken sounds awkward and a little nerve-wracking. Part of my job as your photographer is to make you feel natural and create a fun atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy yourselves. Also, I get a sense for how much or little posing feels right. For Nicole & Taylor, I didn’t have to do much! They were so naturally sweet and snuggly together, and laughter came so easily to the two of them! It is so reflective of their loving, comfortable relationship. Ahh I love my job!

Everything this afternoon was glowing. While I’m definitely not a winter person, the light at sunset in the winter is special. Definitely feeling #blessed about all this warm, sunny December weather! Fingers crossed that it lasts through January!
