Well, it is finally autumn here in Washington, D.C.! The trees in Leesburg, VA might not yet have those warm autumn colors, but the weather on Saturday was picture-perfect for Becky & Tommy’s wedding!

So, let’s be honest: 2018 has been a weird year for weather. We’ve had record rainfall and floods all year long, and the late summer and fall have felt more like the spring! For a wedding photographer, this has made life a little more unpredictable than usual. However, this wedding photographer has somehow dodged almost every rainy day in the last 5 months! Miraculously, my wedding days have been sunshine-filled in the midst of very rain weeks. Hallelujah!

Saturday was another one of those sunshine-filled days, but instead of the extremely above-average temperatures, Becky & Tommy’s day felt much more like the ideal fall day. Hovering around 60 degrees and with plenty of sun, their day really did feel perfect from the start!

Last fall, I met Becky & Tommy over drinks at one of my favorite local restaurants, Pepita. We clicked instantly, and I’ve been looking forward to this wedding for months! Their engagement session was similar to their wedding day – lots of sunshine, smiles and genuine laughter. I love this couple!!!

Becky’s sister, Jessie, was a crucial part of planning the wedding day and did an amazing job with the super pretty details. Seriously, the reception space was stunning! I loved the floral-heavy details (amazing work, as always, by J. Morris Flowers!) and pastel hues.

My favorite parts of the day included: the historic, stone architecture at the Murray House, the beautiful view overlooking the Potomac during the ceremony, the toasts made by the MOH & Best Man (Evan and I are still laughing), and Becky’s gown that was just MADE for her! Honestly, I could probably list every detail of this wedding as my favorite because everything was so perfect!
