Yes, I’ve said it a million times – I have the BEST engaged couples! Kaylee found me through Instagram a few months ago and reached out about our team photographing both her engagement session and wedding. When they mentioned wanting a classic DC Monuments engagement session, I couldn’t say yes fast enough!

Kaylee and Lane are easy-going and very chill. They are so clearly super-comfortable with one another, which made photographing them such a breeze! Even at the early hour of 6am, these two were willing to walk all over the National Mall to take advantage of all the most beautiful locations that the DC Monuments have to offer! When the morning first began, there was a light rain, but by the time we started shooting, the rain had stopped and a beautiful, partly-cloudy morning followed to give us the most beautiful light!

Once again, I was struck by how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful city. I am steps away from some absolutely stunning locations for engagement photos! The white marble that covers many of the monuments not only is pretty to look at, but is also an amazing source of reflected light. This reflected light creates really flattering lighting for engagement photos and general photo composition! So, if you’re on the fence about whether or not to choose the DC monuments as your engagement session location – my suggestion is YES – go for it!

In September, these two will be getting married in Michigan! With all of the craziness of the global pandemic, they opted to celebrate with a more intimate group sooner rather than waiting a long time to get married, so the 100 day countdown has begun! While we won’t be there for the wedding celebration, I was so thrilled to be a part of their engagement!
