This snowy winter wedding at Soldiers & Sailors in Pittsburgh, PA was photographed on Saturday, December 30, 2017 by Hannah Bjorndal. Hannah is a wedding & portrait photographer based out of Washington, DC and available for national and international travel.
Snowy, winter-y and cold are not usually words that I use to describe my ideal day, but this wedding at Soldiers & Sailors in Pittsburgh, PA was a winter wonderful. Gently falling snow surrounded us all day long! Maria, J.T. and their AMAZING wedding party braved the extreme cold for absolutely gorgeous photos at a stunning building on the University of Pittsburgh’s campus. And how gorgeous are they?!
Our connection to these two starts with my husband, Evan. Evan and J.T. were in the same group in college, and one of J.T.’s groomsmen was a groom at my first wedding of 2016 nearly two years ago! I actually had a few deja-vu moments during the day to that January 2016 wedding, also in Pittsburgh and also super cold! So much has changed in two years, and much of that has to do with those sweet couples who took a chance on me in my first year of business! Heart is full!
J.T. & Maria met in high school and have been together ever since. Their long relationship is mature and built on friendship, and the joy to finally be married was so obviously when they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day! You can always depend on me to get teary during a first look, and this was no exception. I think we all momentarily forgot the cold during this sweet moment!
One of the most noticeable aspects of the wedding day was the importance of family. Maria & J.T. have large families, and they are lucky enough to have had all 8 of their grandparents at the wedding to celebrate. In honor of their legacy, Maria & J.T. chose to make their grandparents the guests of honor at their head table. Totally loved this sentimental, thoughtful idea!
So excited to share these photos with you!
Thank you, Mr. & Mrs. Schwartz, for inviting me to be a part of your wedding day!
