This Pittsburgh wedding with a view from the top was photographed by Cassie Tobias on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Cassie is a Washington, D.C. wedding photographer who is available for weddings in the Washington, D.C. area, Pittsburgh, and more.
I had never been to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania until Brittany & Taylor’s wedding weekend! Aside from it being the “Steel” City and home to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, I knew very little about what to expect upon visiting. We are always so excited to visit new places regardless of whether they are in driving distance or a flight away. I was really happy to be able to fit in a little bit of exploring around the true purpose for the trip – Brittany and Taylor’s wedding!
With rain in the forecast for the entire weekend, prayers for good weather were answered as their day turned out to be full of sunshine. Brittany & Taylor were simply the sweetest couple to work with. From the moment I saw them together, I knew that their love was incredibly genuine and beautiful and that photographing their day would be a complete joy.
Brittany & Taylor’s ceremony might have been one of the most special ceremonies that I have seen. Taylor’s father officiated the marriage and gave an incredible charge to the couple as they entered into this beautiful union. I couldn’t help thinking how special it must be to have someone from your family be a part of your ceremony in such a big way! Taylor’s father’s words were filled with incredible care and wisdom that even brought tears to my eyes and reminded me of the wonderful commitment there is in marriage.
The reception was held at the LeMont Restaurant atop of Mt. Washington that has a spectacular view of Downtown Pittsburgh. I’m told by Pittsburgh natives that this restaurant is one of the most highly sought after locations for wedding receptions in the area and I can definitely see why! Brittany & Taylor were incredible and were all for braving the strong winds in order to take photos with this stunning view as the backdrop! The evening was filled with beautiful words and toasts to the bride and groom as they celebrated their union as husband and wife!
A few highlights from the day: Brittany’s gorgeous dress which has given me a new love of tulle, the breaktaking view from the top of Mt. Washington, Brittany’s first dance with her step-dad (which may have included a fedora while dancing to “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra), and the cookie table with every sort of cookie imaginable – a Pittsburgh tradition that dates back to the 1930’s during the collapse of the coal industry and Great Depression. This wedding was such an incredible day and I am so excited to share it with you!
