Photographing a beautiful fall elopement at the DC War Memorial is one of my favorite ways to spend a sunny September Saturday afternoon! I could not have been more thrilled to have the honor of photographing Alex & Zack’s wedding day last weekend. It’s certainly not the wedding day they initially planned, yet it was incredibly beautiful and meaningful, filled with happy tears and meaningful moments.

Alex & Zack are, in my humble opinion, a perfect fit. Maybe it seems cliché for a photographer to say that about her couple, but genuinely, these two were meant for each other! Even during their engagement session, I could tell they have that special, magnetic connection which you can totally feel as an outsider looking in! I was particularly moved by the vows they wrote and recited to one another, which were heartfelt, eloquent and authentically them. It was such a beautiful thing to witness!

The pandemic has caused a lot of couples to reevaluate how they plan to celebrate their actual marriage and subsequent reception or big party celebration. For Alex & Zack, the answer was to postpone the big celebration but definitely still get married on their original date! I love this approach and think it allowed for maximum celebrating with the people who matter most. Next year, they’ll have their big celebration at District Winery and I’m already super excited to be a part of it!
