Love stories often unfold in the most unexpected places, and for Mackenzie and Drew, their journey began in the post-college realm of work. Meeting through work after college, their connection deepened through shared experiences and the challenges life threw at them. Their wedding day, a culmination of shared experiences and unwavering support, was a testament to the strength of their bond.
Life threw Mackenzie and Drew some curveballs, but they faced them hand in hand. Drew stood by Mackenzie’s side during the loss of her mother, a chapter that brought tears to many during the wedding reception. Yellow roses, scattered throughout the décor and day, served as a tribute to Mackenzie’s late mother. Mackenzie wore her mother’s beautiful jewelry and veil. The late mother’s seat was occupied by their dog, Tobi, acting as the ring bearer.
Guests couldn’t help but marvel at Mackenzie and Drew’s compatibility. Numerous people echoed the sentiment that they were perfect for each other, forming a rock-solid unit that could weather any storm. Mackenzie’s sisters, who are incredibly close to her, shared heartfelt sentiments during the celebration, emphasizing Drew’s role as not just a partner but as one of their best friends.
Mackenzie’s close-knit family played a central role in the celebration. The “Hertel dance,” a cherished tradition involving Mackenzie, her three sisters, and her father, was a touching moment of familial unity. Drew was seamlessly integrated into this tradition! Drew’s grandfather added a personal touch to the festivities by playing the accordion for the Horah, infusing the celebration with cultural richness and familial history. The Horah became a lively, unforgettable dance that celebrated love!
Mackenzie’s attire for the day held deep sentimental value. Her sisters assisted her with putting on her late mother’s veil. Mackenzie’s three shoe changes added a playful touch to the day, each choice reflecting her vibrant personality and style. The moment her father lifted the veil at the altar marked not only a transition but a merging of past, present, and future.
Mackenzie and Drew’s wedding was a celebration of love, resilience, and the enduring power of family. Every element of the day, from the heartfelt tributes to Mackenzie’s mother to the fusion of family traditions, wove together a tapestry of memories that will undoubtedly last a lifetime. Cheers to the Hertel-Geyers!
