The day before Evan proposed, I was not making any wedding plans. To be honest, I really wasn’t even thinking about wedding plans. Sure, I had a secret Pinterest wedding pinboard that I started via 2011, andddd maybe I had started making an ideal guest list, but I really had absolutely no idea what the wedding planning process was actually like. I assumed that things just kind of fell into place and, if you were organized, it would be pretty easy.

Yeah, I know. I was naive.

The day after Evan proposed, my entire day was filled to the brim with wedding plans. My parents had come into town for the weekend, and we wanted to have a somewhat short engagement (10 months), so everything was GO GO GO pretty much immediately. I was really hesitant to make decisions, but decisions needed to be made quickly . . . but I felt like I didn’t even have the tools to make the best decision! It was stressful – wanting everything to be just how we wanted it, but not knowing how to make that happen. Now that I’ve had a some time in the wedding industry (as a photographer, a senior account associate at WeddingWire, and general wedding culture enthusiast), I’ve learned a thing or two about what brides and grooms are dying to know but just can’t figure out.

That’s why I’m dedicating a blog post series to all of the various questions I receive from couples during their wedding planning process.
