Take the morning (or day) off of work!

Taking the day off from work on the day of your engagement session is essential to ensure a stress-free and memorable experience. We consider your engagement session once-in-a-lifetime and a very special opportunity to connect with each other and us. It requires your attention and a (fun!) emotional investment, which is tricky if you’re preoccupied with work responsibilities. By giving yourself the day off, you can fully focus on preparing for the session, relaxing, and cherishing the special moments with your partner. It also allows you to look your best, without the rush of work-related stress, guaranteeing that you’ll be in the right frame of mind to create beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.

Also . . . it allows you two to have a full day of fun with one another! You can plan entire date day or evening, so spend the day pampering yourselves and enjoying (probably much-needed) quality time together.

 

Plan for other fun wedding tasks

If you’re going to take the full day off, make a whole day of celebrating your upcoming marriage! Take advantage of being dressed up and looking your best for the session and use that momentum to also enjoy some of the more fun elements of wedding planning, like cake tasting or choosing wedding bands. Combining your engagement session with other wedding-related activities will allow you to be fully focused on the excitement of your wedding – it ups the romantic, joyful side of wedding planning. Particularly if you followed our first tip, you’ll be able to feel fully connected to each other.

Let’s face it: not all elements of planning for a wedding are fun. However, your engagement session (at least, if it’s with us!) is going to be super fun, relaxed and romantic. Choose the other wedding task you’re most looking forward to (whether it’s a venue tour with a wine tasting, shopping for shoes or just a “wedding self care” couples massage 😉) and plan it for earlier or later in the day from your session.

Go Somewhere New

If you’re torn over where to have your engagement session, choose a location that you’ve never been before! This is a fun way to get to know a new city, national park, or really anywhere! Choosing a new and unique location for your engagement session can transform it into an intimate and romantic date-like experience. When you explore an unfamiliar place together, it sparks a sense of adventure and curiosity, encouraging you both to be more open, playful, and relaxed.

 

Make a Reservation

To be fully relaxed and ensure the date really happens, make a breakfast, brunch or dinner reservation in advance for after your session! Pick a new restaurant you’ve been wanting to try (or ask us for recommendations – we have tons!)! Coffee or brunch after your sunrise session, in particular, is a great way to reward your self for the early wake-up! It will make waking up so early a bit easier and you’ll have a whole morning to look forward to.
