Elegant DC micro weddings and elopements are kind of my thing. As luck would have it, Friday morning brought me to the DC War Memorial and Lincoln Memorial to photograph the most beautiful elopement! Cara and Brian sadly had to postpone their wedding celebration in Naples, FL. So, on their original wedding date of May 15, we celebrated anyways! Cara and Brian, along with four friends and family members (and many more on Zoom!), officially tied the knot at the stunning DC War Memorial.

Wow, I missed photographing weddings so much! In March, Cara had reached out about having me photograph their elopement, and I had been looking forward to it ever since then! It was a breath of fresh air (literally) to spend time with a lovely engaged couple and celebrate their marriage. Their ceremony was picture-perfect and Brian even self-officiated (he did an amazing job!). After portraits and their thoughtful ceremony, Cara and Brian had a champagne toast followed by a picnic with Brian’s parents. The perfectly beautiful weather was the cherry on top!

The DC War Memorial is a beautiful location for an elopement or micro wedding, so I was thrilled when they picked this as their spot! I love that the War Memorial has the classic white-marble look that is typical of DC, yet it’s tucked away from tourists. It’s literally perfect in every way, especially in the spring. Especially for a micro wedding, the DC War Memorial is a clear winner!

A few of my favorite parts of the day include Cara’s stunning lace dress, the freshly baked croissants and custom cookies (with their pup, Olive!), the always-stunning glow of the DC War Memorial, and Brian’s parents readings during the ceremony. It was, all in all, an incredibly meaningful and wonderful celebration, and I’m honored that I was able to photograph it!
