This lush, colorful summer wedding in Pittsburgh, PA was photographed by Hannah Bjorndal on Friday, August 31, 2018. Hannah Bjorndal is a Pittsburgh wedding photographer available for weddings in Pittsburgh, the east coast & worldwide.
Last week, I traveled back to my home city of Pittsburgh, PA to photograph Brenden & Christina’s wedding. What a perfectly beautiful day it was!
Christina & Brenden found me through mutual friends at our alma mater, Grove City College. Brenden and Evan even played on the same soccer team at GCC! While I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting them in person until the wedding day, I already felt like we were friends! Through skype calls & planning emails, I had been looking forward to their day for a long time!
Part of my job is being a key player in the most joyful part of a couples life together. How wonderful is that? Experiencing that level of joy so frequently is really unique to the career that I’ve chosen and I’m so thankful for it. In all honesty: at every single wedding I shoot, I’m having a blast! And this one was no exception!
From the beginning of the day, I noticed how much anticipation this couple had to get married. The eagerness leading up to the ceremony, the instant look of joy & relief when Christina walked down the aisle, and the giddiness post-ceremony all reflected how excited these two were to be married. It was amazing to witness!
One specific detail that stood out to me: the vows. Christina and Brenden’s vows gave me an accurate glimpse into their life together. They chose to read both handwritten, custom vows and traditional vows. What a great choice & reflection of what is important to them! Personally, I believe vows are the most important part of the entire wedding day. A vow is so much more than just a love note or beautiful words about the other person. At your wedding ceremony, you are vowing to the other person what you will do as their life partner. What you vow is of such significant importance! The fact that this couple chose to carefully think through what they we’re vowing to one another (both in their own words and in steadfast, abiding words of tradition!) told me of how seriously they take their commitment to one another. I just love that. Throughout the day, I witnessed their sincerity and love for one another as well as their faith in God. It was truly moving!
Some other favorites from the day include Christina’s beautiful vintage engagement ring, the gorgeous, sunny weather, the lush, colorful bridal bouquet, and the homemade cookie table (in true Pittsburgh fashion!). Keep scrolling to see more!
Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Alfery!
