This Labor Day weekend was the official start to my “wedding season” here in Washington, DC, and I can’t image a better wedding to kick off the busiest time of year! Emily and Chris were married at Whitehall Estate on Saturday. They planned an absolutely beautiful wedding with details that I am so excited to share.

This was my first time at Whitehall Estate, but I really hope it’s not my last! The properly is absolutely lovely. The beautiful white building against the rolling Virginia hills was giving me major heart eyes!

So let’s talk about Emily and Chris. These two met at The Falls Church and reached out to me in the spring about their Labor Day weekend wedding. Emily was in Europe at the time (where Chris proposed with BOTH families present! Bravo, Chris!) and so we didn’t meet up until June. When we finally got together, I instantly loved these two! Their attitude toward the wedding was both laid-back and careful, putting thought into the personal touches of the day without obsessing over little things. The best combinations!

There were a lot of tears on the wedding day, myself included. One particularly touching moment was Emily’s first look with her dad. Everyone else cleared out of the room, and the two shared extra-special father-daughter time. I was definitely wiping away tears as I left the room!

The family and friends at this wedding were ready to celebrate this couple that they loved! The dancing, socializing and general feel of the day was joyful and excited. I had a realllllly hard time not dancing at this one, guys!!!

About the photos:  I absolutely adored the soft, rainy day light. A lot of people worry about rain on their wedding day, but that gorgeous, soft glow created the most beautiful setting for Chris and Emily’s portraits! Seriously, I’m so excited to share. Here are some of my favorites!
